Dr. Ruby Mehta

Dr. Ruby Mehta is the Associate Director for Therapeutic Review in the Division of Hepatology and Nutrition at the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). She provides scientific leadership and mentorship to review staff and serves as a signatory authority for drug approvals. Dr. Mehta began her career at the FDA in 2014 as a Medical Officer, advancing to Lead Physician in 2021 before assuming her current role. She is a subject matter expert on liver diseases and biomarker qualification, contributing to key FDA guidance documents and international collaborations. Dr. Mehta is board-certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Gastroenterology, and Pediatric Transplant Hepatology. She earned her medical degree in India and completed her residency and fellowship training in the United States. In addition to her regulatory work, she maintains a clinical practice as an Attending Physician at Georgetown University Hospital.
